Inertia explores the idea of how people react physically to unfamiliar environments. Throughout the film, the audience is taken on a tour through an abandoned building, experiencing the physical and emotional process of three young people set out to explore. Guided by a spirit, the explorers are encouraged to look beyond the rubble into the soul of a space once unarguably beautiful, but now neglected and forgotten.
The story is illustrated through choreographed movement married with film technique built on the foundation of an original score. Through the blending of these mediums, the film challenges the audience by asking: does our environment determine our movement or can we determine our movement from within, and by doing so, shape the environment? The film examines conquering fear, finding comfort in the unknown, discovering beauty in the abandoned, and cultivating the confidence needed to navigate foreign surroundings. Above all, it asks one to move and be moved by the unknown.
